My uncle wrote this short book about his life and times in whist serving in Italy during World War 2. He was quite a character and he gave me a signed copy with affection. Although he was a non believer I always remember him saying to me 'You dont need to be a believer to be a good person' and also ' Anybody that thinks war is glorious is either drunk or stupid' He was back to Italy a few times after the war and was very much a socialist and was a very kind man. He was disgusted with the waste of so many young lives during the war and the D Day Dodgers in Italy were caught up in a lot of action so it was really a bit of a pun.
