About this Book It's the 1930's in Appalachian Kentucky lives one of the last "Blue People" she is Cussy Mary Carter works as an interim librarian.
She is a 19-year-old girl, she was born with a rare genetic condition, her skin has always been dyed an intense blue, her father has been a widowed coal miner for some time now, he has the goal of getting her married as soon as possible.
Her father's plans are increasingly difficult due to her daughter's skin condition, while Cussy has no interest in dedicating herself to a home and prefers to keep her job.
Part of her job is to bring reading material to the inhabitants of rural areas, mounted on a mule in difficult terrain, she delivers books and periodicals to low-income residents.
Cussy's clients refer to her as "Bluet" that is to say Book Woman she feels happy in her work, a false pastor is interested in Cussy proclaiming that he has been sent by God to free society from blue demons, in view of the confrontations she is at risk of being arrested.
A good-hearted doctor decides to protect her and help her, he begins an investigation to prove with scientific evidence why Cussy is blue, she agrees to undergo all kinds of tests to solve the mystery.
This novel is narrated in the first person with an idiom of the language, the author ingeniously describes the rejection behavior of a society that is afraid of things they do not understand, with a focus on fulfillment of personal fulfillment.
A story about Appalachia and the healing power of the written word.
