The main purpose of many body theory in non-relativistic quantum mechanics is the study of the properties of the solutions of Schrodinger's equation with Hamiltonian (1.1) which describes a system composed of N identical particles, which interact with an external field through a one-body potential vext(ri), and among themselves through a two-body potential v(rij).
