Edition Notes
A catalog. The title page includes "Rules and regulations."
The American Antiquarian Society copy has a presentation inscription by G.H. Preble. George Henry Preble is listed on p. [3] as first lieutenant, and was executive officer of the Narragansett from its trial trip in the autumn of 1859 until December 1861. In early 1860 the ship was in drydock at Norfolk, where this catalog was printed. The inscription suggests that Preble, later in life a member of several learned societies, may have been the compiler. Cf. his Genealogical sketch of the first three generations of Prebles, 1868, p. 212, 232.
Title vignette: engraving of a ship, presumably the Narragansett.
"Subscribers to the library."--p. [3]-4. Lists most or all of the ship's complement.
