This is Shadwell's operatic version of the Dryden-D'Avenant adaptation of The tempest, first published in 1670. Hazelton Spencer says the 1670 work is mainly by Dryden; see Spencer's Shakespeare improved (1927), 192-210. See also H.C. Bartlett, Mr. William Shakespeare (1922), no. 161 and 162, and H. Macdonald, John Dryden, a bibl. (1939), no. 73c.
