Translation of: Rules and articles for the better government of the troops raised, or to be raised, and kept in pay by and at the expence of the United States of America. The Rules and articles were passed by Resolve of the Continental Congress, September 20, 1776.
"Five hundred copies of this translation were sent to Canada."--Evans.
Two states of gathering E noted. One is signed at foot of p. 39: Signé au nom & par l'ordre du Congrès: John Hancock, président. Conforme en tout à son original. Charles Thompson [i.e., Thomson], sécrétaire. A Philadelphie, le 7 Nov. 1775.
The other state has, in place of this, an erratum note (N.B. Erreur à la page 23. Art. LX lesez XL.) followed by the word: Fin.
