Edition Notes

Dedication, preface and some plates dated 1810.
Vol. 2 has imprint: London, Lackington, Hughes, Harding, Mavor and Jones, 1819.
Vols. 1 and 2 have also added t.-p., engraved.
Vol. 1 was published 1810-12 in 3 parts, with title "The history of ancient Wiltshire." This t.-p. was cancelled on delivery of the 3d part and the present title, "The ancient history of South Wiltshire" 1812, substituted. cf. W. Upcott, English topography, and W.T. Lowndes, The bibliographer's manual. Vol. 2 has title "The ancient history of North Wiltshire" 1819. Vol. 3 has only engraved t.-p., "Auncient Wiltescire. Roman æra."
