An edition of Dogs of war (1946)

Dogs of war

"Mr. Behan has been interested in the training of dogs since his boyhood and was a trainer of war dogs from the time that the famous K-9 corps was started. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard but his work in training dogs - and the men to handle them - saw him working with the Army, the Navy, and the Marines. This unique book, which took three years to compile, is a full photographic record of the war dogs and, by means of its text, an explanation of the training methods used and of the exploits of the war dogs in all the theatres of war where they were used. It will appeal to everyone interested in dogs, and their training. The book is mostly pictures. It begins with 30 illustrations showing how the dogs were trained, with explanatory text and captions. Then follow the dogs of war at work in the various war theatres - in the Coast Guard at home; in Europe - with a brief story of the famous "Chips"; in North Africa; and finally, the largest section of the book, the war dogs in action in the Pacific."--Amazon.com.
