The book collects about a dozen of essays written by the author between 1974 and 1987, which were first published in Hong Kong and the U.S. It also includes about two dozens of short articles published in Taiwan between 1988 and 1992. In the book, the author urged the KMT government in Taiwan to implement true democracy and use it to defend itself against the Chinese Communists' nationalistic offensives. In 1985, when the British government agreed to turn Hong Kong back to China in 1997, he suggested that the two governments across the Taiwan Strait seriously consider sitting down and settling their disputes peacefully. His essay is entitled "A Draft for the Declaration of Peaceful Reconstruction of China between the KMT and the CCP", published in New York City by the North American Daily. His suggestion was ignored by both governments.
The meaning of the Romanized book title, "Ya bu zhu di hao jiao", is "The Unstoppable Bugle".
