“Half the World are Wandering Jews; the other half are Wandering Jewesses!” Heine quipped. In the Holy Bible, according to New Testament legend, the cobbler of Jerusalem who mocked Christ on the way to Calvary, was condemned to wander undying throughout the centuries all over the Earth. The Wandering Jewess demanded the head of the Baptist, and was similarly cursed to live through centuries of sorrow, or to dance eternally.
