Heinrich Ewald

[Deutsch] Heinrich Georg August Ewald (* 1803 in Göttingen; † 1875 in Göttingen) war ein deutscher Orientalist und evangelischer Theologe. Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Orientalisten des 19. Jahrhunderts. Seine Arbeiten über Hebräisch und Arabisch, die Exegese des Alten Testaments und die Geschichte des israelitischen Volkes waren bahnbrechend.

[English] Heinrich Georg August Ewald (b. 1803 in Göttingen, d. 1875 in Göttingen) was a German orientalist and Protestant theologian. He is considered one of the leading Orientalists of the 19th Century. His work on Hebrew and Arabic, the exegesis of the Old Testament and the history of the Israelite people were groundbreaking.
