Hugo Hørlych Karlsen (f. 1948) er dansk skønlitterær og faglitterær forfatter, litteratur- og kulturhistoriker og oversætter, mag. art i Nordisk Sprog og Litteratur fra Århus Universitet, uddannet i klassisk kinesisk medicin fra Heart of Natures Way School, Edinburgh, og forlægger for NordØsten Forlag / NordOsten Books. Hovedområderne, der gennemtrænger såvel de skønlitterære som faglitterære værker, er: - Det maritime liv og sømandskulturen i 1500- og 1600-tallets Vadehav, især Sønderho på Fanø, sømandsdansen og sønderhoningmusikken som eksistentielle udtryk for livsvilkårene. Daoismen (taoismen) og klassisk kinesisk medicin, kroppens energiveje, akupunktur, følelser og energi, seksuel energi, kost og energi, de klassiske kinesiske visdomsbøger: Den Gule Kejsers Klassiker, Daode jing (Tao Te Ching), Den gyldne blomsts hemmelighed. - Hvorfor blev kristendommen Vestens førende religion, og hvordan er dens udgangspunkt i solkulten, Sol Invictus? - Børns leg, liv og læring historisk og i de moderne samfund, børn og identitetsdannelse, børn og krig. Hugo Hørlych Karlsen (b. 1948) is a Danish writer of fiction and of special literature and scientific literature, literary historian and a historian of civilizations, and translator, M. A. in Scandinavian Language and Literature from the University of Århus, qualified in Classical Chinese Medicine from Heart of Natures Way, Edinburgh, and a publisher, NordØsten Forlag / NordOsten Books. The main themes through both his fiction and scientific literature are: - The maritime life and the culture of the sailors in the south-western Part of Denmark in the 1500th and 1600th centuries, especially in Sønderho on Fanø in the North sea, the dance of the sailors and the sønderhoningmusic as existential expressions of the conditions of life. - Daoism (Taoism) and classical Chinese medicine, the energy routes, acupuncture, feelings and energy, sexual energy, food and energy, the classical Chinese books of wisdom: The Yellow Emperors Classic, Daode jing (Tao Te Ching), The Secret of the Golden Flower. - Why did Christianity become the leading religion in the West, and in which way is it rooted in the sun cult, in Sol Invictus? Children's play, life and learning in history and in the modern society, children and the formation of an identity, children and war. - The land of Palestine, its history and current situation.
